The Interdisciplinary Social Accountability Conference in Healthcare (ISACH) will invite healthcare trainees from a broad range of disciplines in Ontario to participate in a single-day inaugural event focused on social accountability in health care. The conference has been supported and facilitated by the Social Medicine Committee within the Internal Medicine Residency program at McMaster University and aims to bring together communities of practice across health care specialties. This event will encompass research presentations, interactive workshops and panel discussions hosted by field experts including those with lived experiences. Our interdisciplinary steering committee is united with a common desire to improve awareness and knowledge of the social determinants of health within the academic sphere. Our goal is to establish this event as a yearly opportunity for the multidisciplinary health community to come together in support of highlighting the importance and feasibility of approaching clinical challenges in a holistic approach.
