Throughout this year, we will be looking at how we should be interfacing with the increasing prevalence of hospital medicine in the clinical environment.
Based on member feedback, I feel that we should be involved in partnership with those who identify themselves as Hospitalists and work collaboratively with them in the areas of internal medicine.
When people think of “hospitalist,” they might think of family medicine vs. internal medicine, but we need to start thinking of the term “hospital medicine” as a model of care.
One of my goals for 2019 is to increase discussion and raise awareness of this issue. To this end, a Hospitalist Medicine Interest Group is being planned during the CSIM Annual Meeting October 2-5, 2019 in Halifax. More details to come, and I hope you will all consider attending.
Please keep your feedback coming and email me at email@example.com.
