Dr. Mahesh Raju Award for Resident Mentorship

Open only to CSIM Resident Associates in the Atlantic Region. The CSIM is offering an Award to a resident in recognition of their mentorship of junior colleagues. The CSIM is pleased to announce this Award in appreciation of the contributions made by Dr. Mahesh Raju.

Call for Research Abstracts

The Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) invites you to submit abstracts to the Postgraduate Oral and Poster Research Session. CSIM trainees will be eligible for the CSIM Awards for Postgraduate Research. In recognition of the importance of the training of internists to the future of academic medicine in Canada, these awards acknowledge the best three oral and best three poster research presentations by trainees. Cash prizes available.

Call for Quality Improvement Abstracts

The Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) invites you to submit abstracts to their Postgraduate Quality Improvement Oral and Poster Research Session. CSIM trainees will be eligible for a CSIM Award for Quality Improvement. In recognition of the importance of the training of internists to the future of academic medicine in Canada, these awards recognize the best oral and poster presentations in the field of Quality Improvement by a trainee. Call for Clinical Abstracts

CSIM trainees are invited to submit abstracts to the Ted Giles Clinical Vignettes Session.   The award recognizes the best oral presentations and cash prizes are available. There will also be a non-judged poster exhibition for selected abstracts.

The CSIM Osler Awards

Nominations are invited for the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine Osler Award. These awards are presented annually to an individual(s) demonstrating excellence in achievement in the field of general internal medicine (GIM), either in clinical practice, research, medical education or specialty development.

GIM Faculty Research Showcase

The GIM Faculty Research Showcase is a mechanism to add topics to the program after the program has been “finalized” in late spring and to highlight the research programs of Canadian General Internists. This Showcase is largely intended for Full Members of the CSIM.  Research from senior trainees in GIM (PGY4, PGY5, or greater) is also eligible for consideration.  Resident members should submit their research to the postgraduate trainee research competition.

CSIM Education and Research Fund

  • Encourage CSIM Full Members and Resident Associates to advance careers in both community and university-based General Internal Medicine (GIM) to do an elective at another Canadian site to pursue a scholarly activity in medical education, clinical research project or QI project.
  • Encourage CSIM members (both Full Members and Resident Associates) to enhance the development of GIM (community and university-based) as a specialty by facilitating scholarly activity, knowledge exchange and pursuit of new knowledge.

Dr. David Sackett Senior Investigator Award

The purpose of the Dr. David Sackett Senior Investigator Award is to recognize excellence in research by a senior Canadian general internist. The award is intended to increase awareness of high quality research by general internists in Canada and to foster such research.

New Investigator Award

An annual New Investigator Award is offered by the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine in recognition of excellence in the field of internal medicine research by a young investigator.

The Hui Lee Health Promotion Scholarship

To promote excellence in health promotion among General Internal Medicine residents and physicians, and to honour and remember the life of Dr. Hui Lee, an active and cherished member of the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine. The 2017 prize amount is $1,500.
