Choosing Wisely Talks Season Premiere!

Join Dr. Christine Soong for “Tackling Overuse in Hospitals” on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 12:00pm Eastern Time.

This presentation will focus on hospital-based Choosing Wisely interventions to reduce overuse in your hospital. It will discuss the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine’s Choosing Wisely list of five things physicians and patients should question. Dr. Christine Soong will also be discussing Sinai Health System’s (SHS) benzodiazepines and sedative-hypnotics project among older adults – the inspiration for our toolkit ‘Less Sedatives for Your Older Relatives’, as well as SHS’s reducing inappropriate catheter use and blood test reduction projects.  By using the interventions mentioned in this toolkit, potentially inappropriate sedative-hypnotic prescriptions decreased by over 40%, without increases in prescriptions of other sedative agents.

After 150 years of representing some of Canada’s most innovative physicians, the Canadian Medical Association has taken the bold step of creating Joule—an entrepreneurial company that together with CMA members, will shape healthcare innovation in Canada. Click here to learn more.
